Hampi is a World Heritage Sites that is located near the town Hospet, Karnataka. Originally Hampi was derived from the Kannada name ‘Hampe’, old name of Tungabhadra River or ‘Pampa’ during the age of Ramayana (the great Hindu Epic). This is one of the ancient and most historical places in the world. The unique architecture and structure draws thousands of tourists and pilgrims every year. Stunning temples royal monuments, ancient buildings are extremely attractive. The huge boulders that stand as a legendary have been demolished and destroyed centuries ago by Mughal Emperor. The village is ruined and history left behind still. This village can be also being seen as lost city under stones years ago.

Main Sightseeings Point of Hampi

Hampi is an ancient historical land in India and is recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. The village Hampi is also known as temple city as there are several and different temples depicting different Hindu idols.

 Archaeological Museum in Hampi

This museum is one of the most attractive tourist destination places in Hampi City. There are total four galleries enclosing the picturesque Village of Hampi. All the four galleries hold some unique antiques, artifacts, metal objects of religious utility and brass plates and idols of ancient Indian History.
 

Hanuman Temple/Monkey Temple in Hampi

This is a famous and old temple that was illustrated in one of the great Hindu Epic ‘The Ramayana’. The place has lot of moneys, so it is advise to be little cautious. This place offers a beautiful scenic view of Hampi where you can witness mesmerizing view of sunrise and sunset from the hills.  
 
Vijaya Vittala Temple in Hampi

Vijaya Vittala Temple is the main attraction in Hampi that was built during 15th century AD. The temple is dedicated to Lord   Vittala. It gives a marvelous attention towards tourist along with a gigantic stone chariot. It reflects the true wonders of architecture and also well-known for historical and religious place.
 
Virupaksha Temple in Hampi

Virupaksha temple exemplifies Lord Shiva (who is a Hindu God). The temple consists of a three ante chambers, sanctum, a pillared hall and an open pillared hall. Inside there are many smaller shrines and sub-shrines. Now-a-day the temple is popular and attracts huge crowds for the pure marriage festivities.
 
Royal Enclosure in Hampi

Royal Enclosure is a wide open ground consisting of a number of small shelters with a number of interesting and important relics of ancient India. There is a ‘House of Victory’ or the Dassera Platform.
 
Riverside Ruins in Hampi

There is a beautiful river ruins near the monuments. If you will go closer to the river, you can see many Shiva Lingas beside the river, but little exploration is needed. You can find 108 Shiva lingas carved on a large sheet on the surface of the stone. Rock-structure is done on the wall that dedicates some Indian Hindu Idols.

Hampi Bazaar in Hampi

It is located near the Virupaksha temple. This bazaar is also known as Virupaksha Bazaar. It is a unique attraction though the market has lost much of its sheen and significance. The bazaar is spread over one kilometer and the street has been encroached by a number of shop owners and small restaurants. Tourist can also see a large statue of Nandi (Shiva’s bull) standing at the east end of the street. Tourists are allowed to take snaps of the market. This place was commercially rich as many merchants from various foreign lands used to come and sell exotic stuff like precious stones, jewellery, silk clothes, etc.
 
Hemakuta Hill Temples in Hampi

It is a sacred and holy temple that is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is located on the Hemakuta Hill. This place is awesome and one can witness a beautiful view of sunrise and sunset from the hill. The name of this hill is after a girl named Pampa who was very dedicated to Lord Shiva and he was pleased with her devotion and rained gold and promised her to marry. The word ‘Hema’ that is in Sanskrit means ‘Gold’ and hence, the hill got the named Hemakuta. It is believed that there were many other myths took place in this place that is why you can find many temples of Lord Shiva near this monument.

Sasivekalu Ganesha in Hampi

This is dedicated to Hindu God deity Ganesha, son of Lord Shiva. It’s a unique structure where you can see huge tummy out. It was believed that one day Lord Ganesha ate lots of food and his tummy became huge and he can’t control overeating. He saw a snake beside him and he wrapped it on his stomach from bursting. And is what the architect gave the same structure of Lord Ganesha.
 
Krishna Temple in Hmapi

It is a notable temple of Lord Krishna (Hindu God). It is one of the most popular groups of monument. This temple was built and erected by King Krishnadevaraya in the year 1513 AD in honor of winning battle.  The main idol of the temple is Lord Krishna. He himself is a lover of art and architecture. It is one of the most ruined and famous architectural monuments. Leisurely walk around the temple will allures tourist mind.

Back to your Hotel
