Overview

Haryana, the word has been derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Hari’ which means (name of the Hindu God Vishnu) and other word ‘Ayana’ which means (Home). The state Haryana was founded in the year 1966 on the 1st of November where Punjab was divided into Haryana and Modern Punjab. Haryana is surrounded by the other states like Himachal Pradesh and Punjab towards the north side,  Rajasthan towards the west side. The main occupation of the state is Agriculture and with this, country’s production of milk and food grain are mostly grown here. The city Gurgaon is well-known and emerged as a major  industrial and information technology hub for many worlds reputed BPO’s. The ancient Indus Valley Civilization was sited here and after that many dynasties and histories took place during the medieval age and modern age of India.

Hindu is the main religion in this state where 88.23% approx are Hinduism 6% approx are Sikhism 5.78% approx are Islam and 0.45% are Christians.

The state Haryana is rich in Cultural Heritage that are maintained from the Ancient Period of Vedic Times. Mother tongue, or the language that is spoken by the people of Haryana is ‘Haryanvi’ used by Jat people of Haryana. Other language that is also spoken are Hindi, Punjabi, English. But with the changing environment of India, thoughts and ritual that were followed for 600 years by our ancestors has been changed.

Gurgaon:

Gurgaon is a hotspot city and well developments in Information Technology and Industries. Delhi is the nearest city to reach Gurgaon. Gurgaon is famous for multi-national companies and till the end of 2013, 500 companies had opened recently. The city attractions are blended with western style gardens, shopping malls, national park, nightlife. Safety for girls and women are recommended not to go for nightlife without taking prior safety for themselves. Some attractions of Gurgaon are - Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, Leisure Valley Park, Ambience Mall, Kingdom of Dreams, Aapno Ghar Amusement Park.

Kurukshetra:

It is a Heritage site and Holy place in the state of Haryana. This place was depicted  from the Hindu epic – Mahabharata. According to the history of Mahabharata, Kurukshetra War was fought and from then, the name Kurushetra was formed. Some attractions are - Braham Sarovar, Bhishma Kund, Sannahit Sarovar, Birla Mandir etc.

Panipat:

Panipat is a historical place which is a district in the state of Panipat. The place is also known as the ‘City of Weaver’. This place was also depicted from the epic Mahabharata. Three battles were fought in this place.  The first Panipat battle occurred during the year 1526. Some major attractions are - Panipat Museum, The grave of Ibrahim Lodhi, Shri Devi Mandir, Shri Ram Sharnam, Salar Gunj Gate, Insaar Bazaar, Shopping malls, Gandhi Park and Library at Quila etc.

Hansi:

This place is famous for monuments, architecture and havellis. Hansi falls under the district Hisar. Some major attractions are Grand Barsi Gate, Hansi Fort, Gujari Mahal, Dargah Char Qutub etc.

Ambala:

Ambala is a popular district in Haryana. This district was formed in the year 1843. Famous for handloom, and other kinds of dress material.  Major attractions are – Anandpur Sahib, Air Force Base, Gurudwara Manji Sahib, Lakhnaur Sahib Gurudwara etc.

Manesar:

Manesar is a place where different communities resides here.  Major attractions are Manesar Village, The Heritage Transport Museum etc.

  1. By air Chandigarh Airport and Delhi Airport is the nearest airport, which is well-connected to Delhi, Rajasthan,Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
  2. By rail -There are three major railway stations in the state – Faridabad,  Panipat, Rohtak Junction.  These are connected to the rest of the country by regular trains.
  3. By Road - roadways are well-maintained with the other main cities like Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajashtan and others.
