Formerly known as Tanjore, Thanjavur is one of the most popular city of Tamil Nadu and an important centre of South Indian Art, culture and religion. It is the home of Tanjore paintings. Apart from this Great Living Chola Temples is one of the most popular temple of the region which is known as Great Living Chola Temples, which was declared as UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1987. The foremost among these, the Brihadeeswara Temple, is located in the centre of the city. Itinerary
Day 01: Chennai – Thanjavur (By Road- 383.7/ 6.21 mints)
Upon arrival at Chennai airport / railway station, meet our representative. Then drive to Thanjavur. On arrival at Thanjavur, check into your prebooked hotel. Rest day is free at leisure.
Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 02: Thanjavur
Today after breakfast, proceed to explore the major attractions of Thanjavur including Brihadeeswarar Temple, is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the "Great Living Chola Temples", which was constructed in 10th century.
Post lunch, proceed to explore Trichy, which is located at about 54 kms away from Thanjavur. Visit Rock Fort temple, which is the major attraction of the city. Later, proceed to explore Srirangam Island.
Return to Thanjavur in the evening for an overnight stay.
Day 03: Thanjavur – Chennai (By Road- 383.7/ 6.21 mints)
Today is the last day of the tour. After breakfast, drive back to Chennai. On arrival in Chennai transfer to advised location or Airport.
