Tour Description

Overview

‘Spiti to Ladakh Trekking Tour’ is well designed itinerary, which gives you the chance to explore the Spiti and Ladakh. Spiti is one of the serene desert mountain valley, which is situated on the foothill of Himalaya. The region was surrounded by international boundary with Tibet. The valley is known for its ancient Buddhist monasteries along with ancient buildings of the former ruling, mountains, glaciers etc. The Land of  Mountain Passes, Ladakh is located on the foothill of Karakoram Mountain which is subrange of the Hindu Kush Himalayan Range. Renowned for its beauty, culture and traditions along with the beauty of its high remote mountains and upper Indus River Valley. The tour will give you the chance to get close with the tribal life along with the culture and traditions and explore the magnificent surroundings of these regions. During this tour you will explore the trekking experience towards the various stunning places of the region along with that you will also get the chance to explore the monasteries around Ladakh and Spiti region.

Itinerary

Day 01: Delhi (Arrival) 
 
On your arrival in Delhi, meet our representative and get transferred to a hotel. An Historical, Cultural, political, Modern or traditional you can explain the city as any of them, like aged wine Delhi become more graceful, more valuable and more with every passing decade. That is the heart of this wonderful city. New Delhi is a capital of India.
 
Upon arrival, Check-in at the hotel. Rest day is free at leisure, or you can explore the popular markets of Delhi, where you can get the some authentic Indian handicraft items. 
 
Overnight at hotel.
 
Day 02: Delhi
 
After breakfast, proceed for city tour, including Old Delhi as well as New Delhi. The sightseeing covers the main attractions of Delhi such as India Gate, The monument commemorates the Indian Solider was killed during the world for and Afghan war, the monument has names of the soldiers engraved on the walls of the monument who died in these wars,  Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan and Jama Masjid, India's largest mosque. Visit the towering Qutab Minar, Purana Quila, Humayun's Tomb and Jantar Mantar observatory. Pay homage at Raj Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi's memorial. In the evening enjoy the Sound & Light Show at Red Fort. 
 
Return to hotel for overnight stay.
 
Day 03: Delhi - Shimla (By Road-360 Kilometres)
 
Today after having an early breakfast, proceed to Shimla, by road. Shimla - the land of pine scented hills, beautiful peaks, crisp winter skies, fragrant cedar forests, romantic mists and golden hillsides. On arrival check into your hotel. Evening is free at your own, explore the nearby places on your own such as visiting the Mall, the Ridge and so on. Overnight in the hotel.
 
Day 04: Shimla - Kufri – Shimla (By Road-18 Kilometres)
 
This morning after breakfast you will be driven to Kufri Valley - located 18 kilometres from Shimla. Kufri is a small hill town, it commands a panoramic view of the majestic Himalayas. It is a perfect holiday retreat where you can enjoy horse and yak riding. Adventure enthusiasts can trek up to Mahasu Peak. During the winter season, the place becomes all the more charming and turns into a place of winter adventure sports such as skiing.
 
In the afternoon you both are taken to visit some of the best city attractions such as Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Jakhu Temple and the Sankat Mochan Temple. In the evening is free at leisure or you can enjoy shopping at The Mall and The Ridge and return to the hotel for the night rest.
 
Day 05: Shimla – Manali (By Road-270 Kilometres)
 
After breakfast, proceed for Manali. Which is about 270 kilometres away from Shimla. Located at an altitude of 2,050 meter in the Beas River Valley, near the northern end of the Kullu Valley, Manali is one of the most popular hill stations in India and is known for its snow clad mountains and impenetrable pinewood forest. On arrival check into your hotel and spend rest of the day at leisure. Overnight in Manali.
 
Day 06: Manali 
 
Today after breakfast, proceed for half day sightseeing, the highlight of the sightseeing is Hadimba Devi Temple and the Tibetan Monastery before proceeding to Vashisht village, just outside Manali, across the river Beas, known for its hot Sulphur springs whose water is said to have curative properties and Manu temple. Evening is free at leisure or explore the nearby places at your own.

Day 07: Manali - Rohtang la (3978m - By Road-52 Kilometres Drive) – Kunzom la (4551m) -Kaza (3600m) -Tabo (By Road-48 Kilometres)
 
Today early morning departure to Rohtang pass by road.  Rohtang pass is located at the height of 3978mtrs. It is also known as the gateway to Lahoul -Spiti, Zanskar and Pangi. You will be passing through Chandra Valley. On the way enjoy the picturesque view of snow-capped mountains of the Pir Panjal and the great Himalaya. Passing through Kunzum –la, which is located at the height of 4551m from sea level. Arrive at first village of Spiti, Losar (4,000m).  In the evening arrival at Kaza. Kaza is one of the most stunning destination and sub-headquarter of Spiti region. Upon arrival at Tabo. Check in to the hotel. Rest day is free at leisure.

Day 08: Tabo – Dankhar (By Road-31 Kilometres) - Lalung – Mud – Langza (4400m)
 
Today after having an early breakfast, proceed to visit Lalung monastery, which is located at Lingti valley. En – route enjoy the stunning view of Shilla Peak. It believed that Lalung monastery is one of the oldest monastery than Tabo monastery. 
 
Drive back to the main Spiti valley to visit Dankhar monastery. Dankhar was the traditional ancient capital of Spiti valley. Here walk towards Dankhar Lake. After visiting, then proceed to Tabo Monastery which is another oldest monastery of the region, which was established in 996A.D. by Rinchen Tsangpo.  
 
Overnight stay at Langza.
 
Day 09: Langza - Key -Kibber (4,205m – By Road-6 Kilometres) 
 
After having an early breakfast, proceed to Pin valley, located in the cold desert region of the Spiti valley, renowned for Ibex and Snow-Leopard. Visit Kungri gompa in Pin valley and Kee gompa, more then 260 young monks receiving Buddhist religious training here. 
 
Arrive at Kibber. Overnight stay at Camp in Kibber.
 
Day 10: Kibber - Dumla (About 1 hours trekking) - Thaltak (4550 m - 4-5 hours trekking)
 
Today is the first day of Trek, leaving Kibber behind descent 500 meters. Trek to the narrow Parilungbi canyon. Further cross the Parang Chu by bridge and follow a narrow river until Dumla village, located at the distance of about 400 metres, which is last inhabited village on route. Explore the route, then start gradual climbing towards 900 metres. Arrival on a ridge, from panoramic view of Shilla Peak (6303m). Then trek towards southeast to the campsite at Thaltak. 
 
Arrive at Kibber. Overnight stay at Camp at Thaltak.
 
Day 11: Thaltak - Jugtak Base camp ((4850 m – 5 hours trekking)
 
Today early morning start trekking down to Parilungla Chu, further cross the river and trek up to saghthag over moraine stretch, then start the moderate climb to Glaciated valley and follow the moraine stretch towards north and then arrive at Jugtak Base camp.
 
Overnight at Jugtak Base camp.
 
Day 12: Jugtak Base camp - Parang la (5450 m) - Karsha gongma (4800 m) (About 6 hours trekking)
 
Today after having breakfast, start climb up to Parangla, enjoy the spectacular views of Peaks of Ladakh, Lahoul and Spiti. Here you can see the Pare chu which is located about 4 kilometres descend from Parang la pass. Through crevasses of the glacier, cross the Pare chu and arrive at Karsha Gongma Base camp.

Day 13:  Karsha Gongma Base camp - Dokpo Phirtse (4700m - 5 hours trekking)
 
After having an early breakfast, start trekking towards Dokpo Phirtse. Traverse the river close to campsite and follow the right bank of Pare Chu. Then 60 kms stretch through Kharas, Dokpo phirtse, Dakar, Kuru and Thaktote, these are the places where changpas tribe stays during summers. Cross the small stream and arrive at Dokpo Phirtse camp site.

 Day 14: Dokpo Phirtse camp site - Lukung (4515 m - 5 hours trekking)
 
Today after having an early breakfast, start the trekking towards Lukung. Enjoy the easy walk followed by the right bank of Pare-chu. Then across grass patches at nomad’s summer place and reach Lukung.

Day 15: Lukung - Norbu sumdo (4300 m - 5 hours trekking)
 
Early morning, have breakfast. Then take the short stretch towards the place where a narrow river joins with Pare Chu River, cross this point and trek towards a Tibetan nomads which is known as Changpas. Here you can see the chances on the
landscape from dusty plain to green grassland. 
 
Overnight stay in camp at Norbu Sumdo.
 
Day 16: Norbu sumdo - Tso-moriri Lake (4450 m – 5 to 6 hours)
 
Today, after having an early breakfast. Start the trekking, here you can see the dramatic changes on the landscape. Stroll through pastureland and sandy files along with Chumik Shailfo. Then you will cross the narrow river, then you will arrive at Tso-moriri Lake. 
 
Then relax in the camp.

Day 17: Tso-moriri Lake - Karzok (4573 m -6-7hours)
 
After having an early breakfast, start the trekking to Karzok along the banks of Tsomoriri Lake. Here walk on the shore of lake as well as Chamser and enjoy the stunning view of Lungser Kangri peaks. Karzok one of the most beautiful high altitude village, changpa nomads. The village is located at the west banks of Lake Tsomoriri. The habitants of Karzok also known as Changpa.

Day 18: Karzok Camp - Tharang la base camp (5-6 hours trekking)
 
After having an early breakfast, trek to Karzok phu (4,640 m). It is the Nomads, where Changpa lives in the Tibetan tents.  Watch them doing their chores, milking goats, shaving sheep, etc.
 
Then climb strenuously to base camp of Tarang la pass. Here enjoy the breath taking view of Lake Tsomoriri, Chamser and Lungser Kangri.

Day 19: Tharang la Pass – Lanyar (7 to 8 hours trekking)
 
Today, after having an early breakfast, leave the base camp. Start climbing to high pass of Tarang la, which is mostly used by nomads of the region. After crossing the pass we descend to Lanyar 
 
Overnight stay at camp in Lanyar.
 
Day 20: Lanyar - Thelakong la – Khalad camp (6 hours trekking) 
 
The day is planned for long and exhausting day trek. After having an early breakfast, start the trekking towards Thelakong la after crossing Thela Kong la follow the Zara Chu. Several time Zaru Chu have to cross. You will arrive at the campsite of Khalad in the evening.

Day 21: Khalad camp – Pang (Trekking) – Leh (By Road-173 kilometres)
 
Today start trek downwards following the Zara Chu and arrive at Pang Tented summer camp on Manali-Leh highway. Then drive towards Leh over Taglang La pass (5328 m) which is the 2nd highest motorable pass on the world.Leh is the largest town in Ladakh. Upon arrival in Leh check-in at the hotel. Evening is free at leisure. 
 
Overnight at hotel.
 
Day 22: Leh
 
After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing tour of Leh covering famous places such as Spituk, Phyang & Shanker Monasteries. In the evening pay a visit to the Shanti Stupa and roam around in the market, where you can buy the local handicrafts.
 
Overnight stay at hotel in Leh.
 
Day 23: Leh 
 
Post breakfast, proceed for a full day excursion to the important monasteries of the Indus valley. Visit to Hemis – it is tucked into the side of a wooded gorge, fed by a clear mountain stream the largest monastery in the Ladakh region. En route explore Shey and Thiksey monasteries. The huge mid-15th century Gelugpa monastery covers a whole hillside, built like Tibet’s Potala Palace, it is the largest structure in central Ladakh. In the afternoon return to hotel in Leh. In the evening proceed for shopping in the local market of Leh city. Overnight stay at the hotel.
 
Day 24: Leh – Delhi (By flight)
 
Today after early breakfast, get transferred to the Leh airport to board a flight to Delhi. On arrival at Delhi, proceed to the hotel, check-in at the hotel. Ret day is free at leisure. Later in the evening move out to explore the market of Chandni Chowk to experience great shopping and taste the delicious street food of the city. Overnight stay at your hotel.
 
Day 25: Delhi
 
Today is the last day of the tour, after breakfast, Check out from the hotel transfer to airport to board the flight to onward destination. We trust you have enjoyed your trip and look forward to organizing your next tour with us.
