Arunachal Pradesh  the ‘ land of the dawn –lit mountains’  is India’s easternmost state the first to receive the  sun  god on Indian soil. Arunachal Pradesh is situated in the North East Part of India also surrounded by the state border of Assam & Nagaland and also shared with International borders with Bhutan in the west, Burma in the east and the People's Republic of China in the north. It has covered an area of  83,500 sq.km, the state is predominantly mountainous with numerous river and streams passing through it, the mightiest of the Brahmaputra. The land finds mention even in the great epics, Mahabharata and the Ramayana. Excavations at various sites have revealed beautifully carved image and old medieval fortresses. This is a land of blooming flowers and orchids of more than 500 varieties. The 24-odd tribes lend the state their own colors. Fond of singing and dancing, its people are full of vigor and life. The land vibrates to the exciting music, dance, and the colorful life of its people. Their joy and vitality find expression in their exquisite handwoven cottons, woolens, and their lovely cane and bamboo creations.

Arunachal Pradesh is a land which still proudly preserves the pristine glory of its people and culture and the natural scenic beauty of its Hills Rivers and lakes.

Itanagar

Itanagar is spread over an area of 2,500 acres  Itanagar is the capital of the Arunachal Pradesh. Squatting atop a low flat-topped hills, the city has a beautiful, serene surroundings and a bracing climate. Ruins of an old palace and other such traces manifest the city’s historicity-some identifying it with the ancient 11th century capital city of Mayapur of the Jitari dynasty. Itanagar today has two parts, 10 km apart with old one named  Naharalagum.

  1. By Air- The State Capital of  Itanagar  has Three Small domestic Airports -located at Daparjio, Ziro, Along, Tezu and Pasighat, Helicopter services are provided.
  2. By Bus- Of the several bus stands in Itanagar, the main one is the Arunachal Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) Itanagar. From these bus stands, one can find buses to all corners of the state and some important locations of neighboring states.
  3. By Road- The State  has two main highways: the 336 km (209 mi) National Highway 52, which connects Jonai with Dirak, and other highway, which connects Tezpur in Assam with Tawang.
